Lagvis is a design contest based on collaboration between designers and young craftspeople. The theme for this years contest was heritage, which the designers are free to interpret as they wish.
The Skuvseng was a popular piece of furniture in rural areas around Norway in the 19th century. The beds were made of solid wood with a wide variety of decorations in the form of carvings and rose painting.
The furniture offered the possibility of flexibility in function, which is just as relevant today.
In today's increasingly smaller living units, this type of flexibility is just as relevant. Can the Skuvseng be used as a starting point to design a multifunctional piece of furniture in a Scandinavian modern style?

With this in mind, I designed a piece of furniture that is equally suited to the living room as the guest room, the office or the children's room. The piece of furniture can be used as a daybed, bench and bed. With its modern but shapely lines in light Scandinavian wood, it adapts to today's market and meets a need for many people for an extra bed.
