Bachelor graduation project

For my graduation project I studied how the physical environment affect children in their daily life in kindergarten. Research shows that even small children experience high levels of stress on a daily basis. The project introduces holistic measures to improve the tactile, visual and acoustic environment in a local kindergarten. The modular furnitures drawn for the project are inspired by a previous project, only reimagined for children's use in this context. Together they provide the children with roomdividers, resting spaces, hideouts, seats for gatherings and meals. Emphasis was made on the childrens independence, and the modules are made of light materials so children easily can dictate the type of space they need, and thereby hopefully reduce their stress levels.

Wall mounted storage solution provides easy access for the children, and easy tidying for the staff.

The popsicle modules kan be put together to create or divide spaces, they can also be put on the circular mattress to create an inclosed resting area.

To challenge the norm and provide more space to play, I removed tables and chairs and inserted these modules for meals and gatherings.

The perfect shape for larger groups to gather in circles.
